GENERAL RULES FOR ANSWERING COMPREHENSION Q1 AND Q2 – IBERAHIM
– write on the provided lines
– don’t exceed the lines and don’t write above and below the lines.
– Don’t write long passages for a 1 or 2 marks question UNLESS specified
– just answering with a phrase is correct
– When the words ‘give’ ‘how is it suggested in the passage’ ‘support ‘ ‘give evidence’ are there…. Lift from the text
– if you are not lifting from the text, and you had to… Mention the line number as reference.
– Write the main idea or answer and give explanations later
– no need for lengthy intros to answers
– be specific
– when asking the meaning of a word or phrase, DO NOT repeat the same word or phrase. Give a synonym and explain.
– when asking meaning or reason for a specific word, refer to it and what effect it creates, or if it is a different part of speech.
